The second film in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU is set! And it’s not going to stray far from the story set up in next summer’s Superman. If you love Kal-El, get ready to meet his cousin, Kara! Because Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is flying into theaters the year after!
We recently reported that House of the Dragon star, Milly Alcock scored the coveted role of Kara Zor-El /Supergirl, who will likely be debuting in Gunn’s Superman next July. But today it was announced that the Woman of Tomorrow would officially be flying into theaters June 26, 2026!

The film also has an official director and writer attached to the project. Craig Gillespie, who helmed Cruella, as well as Lars and the Real Girl and I, Tonya will be in the director’s seat! And it’s a great choice given he’s a terrific storyteller who loves to emphasize character. Behind the script is Ana Nogueira, an actress and newer screenwriter. But she’s got a great source to work from with Tom King’s 2021 run on the title.
It’s definitely an exciting time to be a DC fan! And given everything we’ve seen and heard, I think it’s safe to say the publisher is finally getting the terrific big screen treatment it deserves. At last!
Stay tuned to The Nerds of Color for more news on Superman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as more stories develop!
