Warner Bros. has unveiled a new soundtrack single, “Save Me,” from the original motion picture Trap. The newly released single features rising music star Saleka Shyamalan, who also stars as the fictional pop star in the new M. Night Shyamalan-directed psychological thriller.
In the film, Cooper (Josh Harnett), a serial killer, dubbed “The Butcher,” joins his daughter (Ariel Donoghue ) at a concert for pop star Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan), an event he realizes is a trap set by police to catch him.
The film, which is inspired by a real-life sting operation where a local law enforcement was able to entrap 101 wanted fugitives at a convention center, having invited them under the pretense of gifting them free NFL tickets.
As for the song, it is performed by Saleka, who also happens to be the eldest daughter of M. Night. “Save Me” is one of 14 original songs Saleka comprised for the film’s soundtrack. The songs were designed diegetically to match the action onscreen. Though it isn’t a concert film, it is musically-driven, and as such, Saleka collaborated with her father on the script. Special guest artists to be featured include Featuring special guests Kid Cudi, Russ, Amaarae, and more.
Trap also stars Hayley Mills and Allison Pill. The film is produced by Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock and M. Night Shyamalan. The executive producer is Steven Schneider.
The director of photography is Sayombhu Mukdeeprom (Call Me by Your Name). The production designer is Debbie de Villa (The Hating Game). It is edited by Noëmi Preiswerk. The original songs are written, produced and performed by Saleka Night Shyamalan. The music is by Herdĭs Stefănsdŏttir (Knock at the Cabin) and the music supervisor is Susan Jacobs (Old). The costume designer is Caroline Duncan (Old). The VFX supervisor is Javier Marcheselli (Dune). The casting is by Douglas Aibel (Asteroid City).
Trap opens in theaters nationwide starting on August 2, 2024.
