Meet the Pradeeps of Prime Video’s ‘The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh’

From the mind (and, sort of, life) of Vijal Patel, the executive producer behind Black-ish, The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh follows the Pradeep family — father Mahesh (Naveen Andrews), mother Sudha (Sindhu Vee) and their three kids:  Bhanu (Sahana Srinivasan), Kamal (Arjun Sriram), and Vinod (Ashwin Sakthivel) — and their life after moving to America from India.

The eight-episode half-hour comedy is set in current times, with the Pradeeps’ experiences being told in an interrogation room for an undisclosed reason. The Pradeeps share their hilarious memories, finding themselves “embroiled — romantically, personally, and professionally — with a polar opposite neighborhood family, leading to a predicament with many surprising twists.” Megan Hilty, Ethan Suplee, and Nicholas Hamilton play their “all-American” neighbors, the Mills: Janice, Jimbo, and Stu, respectively.

Patel serves as showrunner and executive producer. Emmy winners Sara Gilbert, Mandy Summers, and Tom Werner are executive producers. Michael Showalter of Semi-Formal Productions is also an executive producer and will direct the pilot. Pete Holmes and Romy Rosemont guest star as the interrogation officers.

“This show is from a very personal place, and explores the many facets of the immigrant struggle,” said Patel in a press release. “As my parents say, the pain got funnier over time—like wine.”

The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh premieres on October 17 on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee.
