In the most meaningful and actionable ways, Beyond Titles encourages you to dig deep, confront what matters most, and reflect on how your life can move forward with intentionality.
Last week, we had the opportunity to speak with author Suezette Yasmin Robotham about her new book Beyond Titles: Fearlessly Leading as Your Authentic Self. With over two decades of leadership experience as a tech executive, Robotham has taken some of her most pertinent experiences and used them to craft this strategic workbook that allows readers to both learn through life lessons and put those concepts into action with detailed, thought-provoking tasks.
A daughter of Jamaican immigrants and with leadership roles at companies including Google, Meta (Facebook) and Salesforce, Robotham’s worldly and cultured life infuses her words with the wisdom you’d find speaking with a powerfully knowledgeable friend. Whether you’re in a leadership position, switching careers, or in need of some clarity, this book is a wonderful guide to help you through life’s transitions, big and small.

I resonated with this book on several levels. Firstly, I’m a daughter of Haitian immigrants. I instantly related to Robotham’s experiences growing up as a first-generation child in an environment filled with cultural norms that aren’t always understood or accepted outside of the home. I also resonated deeply with the dichotomy of feeling happy in one area of my life, but dissatisfied in another. I’ve endured periods of my life where my personal life is thriving, but work or job uncertainty filled me with anxiety and dread. And lastly, I recently was met with the news of the passing of my maternal grandfather, who happened to be me and my siblings’ last remaining grandparent. Death and grief have a way of forcing us to reflect, question, reevaluate, and seek understanding. To say that this book came at the perfect time is an understatement — I truly believe it was meant to be.
After reading the book and completing all of the tasks, we were able to have an in-depth discussion with Robotham about her life experiences, how the book can best assist readers, and some of the biggest takeaways we all can move forward with. This book certainly gave me so much hope and guidance, and you’ll be sure to walk away with numerous great insights. You can watch our full conversation below.
