Breakout Star Jordan Alexa Davis Dishes on Dinosaurs at ‘The End of Oak Street’

The End of Oak Street may star some heavy hitters, like Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. However a great deal of the film’s heart comes directly from its younger cast. Among them, is breakout star Jordan Alexa Davis, playing the role of Jeannette Christiansen in the Amblin-esque tentpole film. And we were fortunate enough to sit down with the actress to discuss what it was like to work on a Bad Robot film, playing make believe with pretend dinosaurs and her larger than life co-stars.

Everyone knows that being a POC in a horror or sci-fi movie is a lot like being a red shirt in Star Trek. More times than not, they are the sacrificial lambs led to the slaughter for the Caucasian protagonists to survive to the end of the film and live happily ever after. Thankfully, The End of Oak Street is not your typical horror film. With a director like David Robert Mitchell (It Folows) and producer JJ Abrams at the helm, you know it’s going to go for something different. And thankfully, Davis contributes to those sentiments.

As Jeannette, Davis may not be front and center the same way the Platt family is, but she is a significant character that becomes a very interesting love interest for one of the most unexpected characters in the film. The innocence and heart in Davis’ performance ground the character into a relatable supporting role that we, as the audience, ultimately root for. She demonstrates a terrific sense of bravery and toughness in the role, but also the type of kindness you could only ever find in the heart of a child.

We were able to speak to Davis about her role, what it was like to work with Hathaway and McGregor, and most importantly, what it was like reacting to invisible imaginary dinosaurs! Check out our conversation with her right here:

You can catch Davis now in The End of Oak Street! Now playing in theaters! And don’t forget to check out our review of the film, and our interview with Mitchell and Abrams right here!
