…And babe, won’t it be fine?
If you haven’t heard, it’s Fashion Week in New York City, but we don’t care about that. And by now, Shark Week has jumped the shark. The new hotness that’s blowing up the web? Star Trek Week.
That’s right. Since Star Trek turned 47 on Sunday, and Star Trek Into Darkness is being released on blu-ray this Tuesday, all week on The Nerds of Color, we are going to be all-Trek, all-the-time. From Origin Stories to Wednesday Comics to School of Hard NOCs, all of our regular features will be set in either the 23rd or the 24th centuries. We’ll also commemorate the kickoff of the NFL season with the Nerds’ own fantasy draft… of the ultimate bridge crew — culled from the casts of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, and the Abrams-verse! All of this culminates in an all Star Trek blowout episode of “Hard N.O.C. Life” on Friday!
We’ll kick things off today at 11:30am ET (8:30am PT) with a (non-Trek, or at least, peripherally Trek) origin by our newest nerd Raymond, who will be investigating how the Trek franchise really deals with racism in a special three-part feature debuting on Tuesday. Then later, at 1:30pm ET (10:30pm PT), Jenn explains how and why she actually liked Into Darkness. At 3:30pm ET (12:30pm PT), Nelson looks at some of the most recent Trek-related card and miniature games that are currently available in stores. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
So set a course for The Nerds of Color, and follow us straight on till Friday.
Resistance is futile.
