UPS Loses Valuable Denys Cowan Artwork

I recently wrote about the wonderful time I had at the opening gala for the “Milestones: African Americans in Comics, Pop Culture, and Beyond art exhibit at the Geppi Museum in Baltimore. Unbeknownst to me at the time, there was some very unfortunate news amidst the happiness inside the museum.

Apparently, much of the artwork that the renowned Denys Cowan had provided for the exhibit — including original concept drawings for Milestone and penciled pages from Batman #400 — actually did not make it to Baltimore.

Show curator Michael Davis has been banging the drum to make sure UPS is held accountable for their actions:

I’ve placed numerous calls to UPS and have made it crystal clear what was missing was the art of the man whose idea it was and from which the Milestones show sprung. I made it extremely clear that if this was a show on cubism they had ‘lost’ Picasso’s art.
