As we get closer and closer to the late-2015 premiere date of Jessica Jones, Netflix’s follow-up to the mega-successful Daredevil, the rest of Marvel’s Television Universe is starting to take shape. We all know that Luke Cage is the next series in the pipeline; in fact, Cage is part of the main cast of Jessica Jones, played by Mike Colter. Now, news has come out that the next major Marvel character to get the live action treatment will be none other than Misty Knight, who will be played by Southland’s Simone Missick.

With Misty Knight set, it’s only a matter of time before we see who will be playing the other half of the Daughters of the Dragon, Colleen Wing. And just like casting Colter as Luke Cage before his own series premieres, it looks as if Misty Knight is being set up to be a major player in the forthcoming — and still yet to be cast — Iron Fist series. And if you didn’t know, we have suggestions for that show.

It’s no secret that I’ve been on the Asian American Danny Rand bandwagon for a while now. Hell, I kind of got that whole thing rolling in the first place. And ever since that original post, people have always asked me which Asian American actor I’d want in the role.

Well, coincidentally, on the same day the Misty Knight casting was announced, former Glee heartthrob Harry Shum Jr. posted the following video on Twitter:

So uh, yeah. There’s your Danny Rand, Marvel. What are you waiting for?

  1. Thank you for this post! I had added Daredevil to my Netflix list and I am so excited to see women of color doing more than just singin’, dancin’ and wagging necks. We do a lot more than that. 🙂

  2. BTW: that image you used of Misty on the chair makes her look like a deskjock instead of a field player. Some might mistake her for being another Amanda Waller.
