All weekend, Disney and Lucasfilm have been prepping audiences around the world for the forthcoming phenomenon that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In addition to running a series of trailers for a trailer to premiere during Monday Night Football on ESPN (of all places), but soon, we’ll all be able to reserve our tickets for that midnight showing (or seven-movie marathon) two months in advance. And the entire galaxy rejoices! Well, not everyone. There’s actually a segment of fandom that is boycotting The Force Awakens.
And you know what? If you’re one of those people who aren’t here for Episode VII, all we have to say is…
Basically, there’s been a movement on the internet — because it’s the internet — by an aggrieved group of folks who feel that a Star Wars movie in which the leads are black, Latino, and female (not to mention a spin-off film with even more women and people of color — and Asians, believe it or not!) is just the first step to white genocide. No, seriously.

So here’s the thing. If these folks are that pissed that John Boyega is wielding a lightsaber on the new poster, we say “good riddance,” or better yet, see the Vader image above.
Besides, the more of you “boycotting” the biggest movie of the year, the easier it will be for the rest of us to get tickets anyway. We’d rather not see these people at the movie theater on December 18.
In fact, your boycott should extend to social media too. So please refrain from tweeting about Star Wars or commenting on any blog posts — including this one — that talk about Star Wars. Otherwise, engaging with the world of Star Wars is only going to encourage the people who are trying to take it away from you.
In fact, I think your boycott should be retroactive since black people were in both the original and prequel trilogies. So, you should probably stop watching those movies as well. Demand George Lucas give you back all of the money you spent buying (and rebuying) every iteration of those films on VHS, DVD, and blu-ray.
Everybody else will be over here with the Rebellion eating popcorn, scooping up action figures, and continuing to plot the destruction of
the white race the Galactic Empire.
