Heyyyy! It’s Kuya P AKA Patrick Michael Strange and I had the extreme pleasure of speaking with the star of the new film, Charm City Kings, making its debut today on HBO Max, Jahi Di’Allo Winston! Check it out!
JAHI DI’ALLO WINSTON (“Mouse” — Charm City Kings)
The multi-talented Jahi Winston has taken the industry by storm in a relatively short amount of time. He is known for his lead role in the Sony Pictures & Screen Gems film Proud Mary. Playing the role of Danny, a young teen doing his best to navigate life in Boston, Winston starred opposite Taraji P. Henson who plays Mary, a hit woman working for an organized crime family. Winston is also widely revered for his role as Young Ralph Tresvant in BET’s most noted original biopic, The New Edition Story. His performance was praised throughout the industry and he quickly became a fan-favorite for his character portrayal and for dancing and recording his own vocals for the show.
Winston also appeared opposite Kevin Hart in the blockbuster hit, The Upside, a remake of the 2011 French blockbuster The Intouchables. In addition, he played a pivotal role in the highly acclaimed Lena Waithe, theatrical release, Queen and Slim. Winston’s performance as the young social activist, Junior, has been regarded a standout in the film that starred Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner Smith.
Following up his appearance in theaters, Winston also starred in Netflix’s thirty-minute dramedy Everything Sucks where the 10-episode series follows two groups of high school misfits – the AV club and the drama club who collide in this quirky, funny coming-of-age story set in Oregon in 1996.
