NOC Exclusive Interview: Comic Creators Howard Wong and Josh Stafford

Heyyy! It’s Kuya P AKA Patrick Michael Strange and I recently had the pleasure of sitting down for a NOC Exclusive interview with the Comics Creators behind Source Point Press’ Damned, Cursed Children! Howard Wong and Josh Stafford!

Howard Wong is an award-nominated writer and creative development specialist who has worked in animation, comic books, creative media, high-end collectible toys, intellectual property development, marketing and branding, and mobile games. He has done work for Bandai, Marvel Comics, Threezero and others. His collaborative works in comics have been nominated for the Joe Shuster Award’s Gene Day Award, Comic Book Buyer’s Guide Fan Award for Favourite Graphic Novel, and the Ghastly Award for Favourite Horror Anthology. Howard has been nominated for the Joe Shuster Award for Outstanding Canadian Comic Book Writer for his creator-owned work.

Josh Stafford is the writer of Zomkeys, which has three issues published from Winter Star Comics. He had a story (co-written by Howard Wong) published in the Joe Shuster Awards-nominated anthology Hogtown Horror, and a story included in the digital anthology Strange Romance. Also, his story was used for the DC Super Hero Girls episode titled, “FlashForwardFlashBack” (available to watch on YouTube). Current comic book work includes a story in the anthology Flip, Volume 2, and the five issue horror miniseries Damned Cursed Children. Projects in development include a fourth issue of Zomkeys, and a giant monster comic drawn by Kelly Tindall. Josh is an arts high school, and film school graduate. A short script that he wrote was included in the book, The Tyranny of Story. He wrote and directed the short film 07-07-13, that screened at the San Diego Comic-Con, and co-produced / co-directed the roller derby documentary Four Wheeled Furies that appeared on CBC. He is co-owner and geek-in-chief of the Mayfair Theatre in Ottawa, a classic single-screen independent cinema that opened in 1932. And, he co-hosts the popular weekly Mayfair Theatre Podcast. He was once killed by Jango Fett in a Star Wars comic, a proud accomplishment even though that story is now out of canon.
