Netflix has recently released images for the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Stowaway. Directed by Joe Penna, the film stars Toni Collette, Anna Kendrick, Daniel Dae Kim, and Shamier Anderson as a space crew headed to Mars. After an unintended stowaway accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems, the crew are forced to make an impossible decision.
“I’ve never really read anything like it,” Collette tells EW. “It is contained and the characters are confined but the questions posed, moral and otherwise, are vast and wide open.”
According to the same article, in which the images were first revealed, Collette serves as the ship’s commander; Kendrick plays Zoe, the medical researcher; Kim as the biologist on the ship; and Anderson as the unexpected stowaway. Unfortunately, the ship can only maintain three passengers, so they have to figure out what to do with this impossible situation. The images reveal the cold isolation the space crew faces as well as their tasks on the ship. We also get a good look at another star of the film, Daniel Dae Kim’s arms.
The actors all got to experience wearing a space suit, which, according to Kendrick, Kim hated. Kendrick shared to EW, “They put the real suit on Daniel Dae Kim — and we’ve all seen Daniel Dae Kim, he’s an Adonis — and he really, really hated it too. He could have done it, but he was pretty miserable as well. So that did make me feel a little bit better.”
