Get Ready Upper East Siders, ‘Gossip Girl’ is Officially Coming to HBO Max This July

Ever since the official reboot was announced last year, fans have been dying to know when the new series was going to drop so we could fall in love with the show all over again in a new way. Now, the wait is finally over, the official Gossip Girl social media accounts shared that everyone should mark their calendars for this July, and you better believe we dropped everything to do so.

Meet Gossip Girl’s newest New York elites. The diverse cast includes Thomas Doherty, Savannah Smith, Tavi Gevinson, Eli Brown, Zión Moreno, Evan Mock, Emily Alyn Lind, Jordan Alexander, and Whitney Peak.

The cast recently covered Cosmopolitan’s May/June issue and gave an exclusive first look into their upcoming show. Here are some of the details that were shared:

Zoya (Whitney Peak) is our relatable-ish tour guide, like Dan Humphrey, through the rarefied world inhabited by the likes of Audrey (Emily Alyn Lind) a posh student at Constance whose mother is an athleisure designer. Audrey and Aki (Evan Mock) have been dating for ages, and her best friend is teen influencer Julien (Jordan Alexander). They’re joined by libertine Max (Thomas Doherty) and rich do-gooder and German import Obie (Eli Brown). As far as there are parallels between the old and new characters, the strongest seems to be between Chuck Bass and newbie Max: flirty boys with accents who are the life of the party. When asked about upcoming romantic scenes — specifically, “Does Max make out with boys?” — Thomas says, “Yes, I do get naked, and yes, I do indulge.” Luna (Zión Moreno) and Monet (Savannah Smith) fill Greek-chorus-type roles but are still fully fleshed-out characters with inner lives of their own. Lastly, the mysterious Kate Keller, will be played by Tavi Gevinson.

Well, that’s all the news for now! Fingers crossed we get a trailer or official release date soon, but for now, we’ll start the countdown until July. xoxo.
