With the upcoming Mother’s Day episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by SpaceX billionaire, Elon Musk, fans of the variety show and some of the cast members have been up in arms regarding why the viral dogecoin guy is even performing. Musk isn’t an actor, and his IMDB is only filled with parody versions of himself. It’s a little suspicious why the space tycoon is even performing at all.
Yikes.
Fortunately, SNL also announced the better hosts for the final two episodes of the season.
First, comedian Keegan-Michael Key returns to his sketch comedy roots on May 15 with musical guest, Olivia Rodrigo. After leveling up the genre with Jordan Peele on Comedy Central’s Key & Peele, Key is finally getting his moment to shine on the SNL stage. When the announcement was made, the Emmy-award winning actor shared on Twitter, “Dreams do come true.”
Olivia Rodrigo, who has her debut album out on May 21, has been discussed on the show already with a sketch about her hit song “Driver’s License” went viral during the episode hosted by Rege-Jean Page.
Now, Rodrigo may be able to participate in another version of the sketch if they decide to do a Part Two.
Actress Anya Taylor-Joy, best known for her award-winning performance in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, will make her SNL hosting debut on the season finale on May 22. We definitely expect a parody sketch on The Queen’s Gambit.
Grammy Award-winning artist Lil Nas X, whose latest single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, is set to be the musical guest. Lil Nas X has been parodied on SNL before, played by Chris Redd, during a cold open of “Britney Spears’ Talk Show” with Chloe Fineman.
Instead of focusing on this weekend’s SNL, let’s celebrate that we have two more episodes to look forward to.
