Sucker Punch announced today that Ghost of Tsushima, their Japanese masterpiece of an RPG, is getting a director’s cut release on both PS4 and PS5 August 20. Players will experience the brand new Iki Island and loads of additional content, new features, and some PS5 exclusive enchantments that will further elevate the critical hailed title.

According to Andrew Goldfarb, Communications Manager at Sucker Punch Productions, the new edition will include the original game and all additional downloadable content since launch, as well as a brand-new adventure for players to embark on with Jin.

On both platforms, the Director’s Cut will introduce new trophies and achievements to unlock, and the new edition will have players explore Iki island, as Jin “travels to the island to investigate rumors of a Mongol presence. But soon, he finds himself caught up in events with deeply personal stakes that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past.” This adventure will introduce new characters, new armor for Jin and his trusty steed, brand-new mini-games, new enemy types, new techniques, and a lot more to be announced.

Exclusive features coming to the PS5 include: cutscenes in Ghost of Tsushima and on Iki Island will offer lip sync for Japanese voice over, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, enhancements to 3D audio, and improved load times. Players on PS4 will be able to transfer their progress to PS5 and new players will be able to access Iki Island at the beginning of Act Two, after making their way to the Toyotama region. Additional updates were also announced for arrival on the Director’s Cut, as well as in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.
