Raise Your Brellies! ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3 Has Wrapped

Hargreeves stans rejoice because The Umbrella Academy has officially wrapped production of season three. Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s stellar graphic novel turned groundbreaking Netflix series has fans eagerly waiting for its release. Per the series’ official Twitter page, the super kids turned badass time travelers (oops, spoilers I guess?) came together to announce the end of production and how excited they were for fans to dive into the new season. With the end of season two came countless questions, like who the hell is the Sparrow Academy, why is Ben their leader, what planet is Sir Reginald Hargreeves from, and where’d Lila go at the end of it all?

Earlier this summer, Steve Blackman, the series’ showrunner, announced all the episode titles for season three and social media understandably lost its collective mind. The new season will be introducing audiences to a new timeline, new characters, mind-blowing revelations, the whole deal.

While there hasn’t been official dates for a trailer or the season’s debut, many are still hoping for a late 2021 release despite the pitfalls of the pandemic, but 2022 isn’t entirely out of the picture either. Back in February, Blackman captured an image of a virtual table read that included former cast members and a few new faces (with one certain someone blacked out entirely).

According to Collider back in June, those returning include “Tom Hopper as Luther, David Castañeda as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, Robert Sheehan as Klaus, Aidan Gallagher as Five, and Elliot Page as Vanya. Ben Hargreeves (Justin H. Min) is also set to return but he will be a drastically different character from the one we know and love.” New blood joining the series are Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, Genesis Rodriguez, Cazzie David, and an “Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube” that sounds horrifying as all hell. With the announcement that filming has wrapped, containing our excitement is damn near impossible at this point.
