Along with starring as the title role, Tyler Perry is the writer, director, and producer of A Madea Homecoming. This marks the 12th movie that the beloved character has appeared in after first being introduced to the world in 1999 with the stage play, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. The new film will premiere on February 25, exclusively on Netflix!

Madea’s back — hallelujer! Tyler Perry returns with everyone’s favorite character in TYLER PERRY’S A MADEA HOMECOMING, the newest film in the MADEA franchise set to debut on Netflix. Writer-director-producer Perry stars in the film that centers around Madea’s great-grandson’s college graduation, though the celebratory moment hits a halt as hidden secrets and family drama threaten to destroy the happy homecoming.

Perry can recently be seen starring in Netflix’s Don’t Look Up, which I interviewed him for as well. He has written, produced, and starred (with multiple roles) in all of the MADEA films.

I had the incredible opportunity to speak with Perry about why he brought Madea back, how he came up with the film’s storyline, which Netflix show he would want the character to appear in, what lesson he hopes A Madea Homecoming gives to audiences, and more!
