Jamie Dornan and Danielle Macdonald star in the new series, The Tourist. Dornan takes on the role of The Man, who has forgotten his identity, while Macdonald portrays Helen Chambers, a Probationary Constable in the Cooper Springs police force. All six episodes of the character-driven thriller are now streaming on HBO Max.
Jamie Dornan stars as a British man who finds himself in the glowing red heart of the Australian outback, being pursued by a vast tank truck trying to drive him off the road. An epic cat and mouse chase unfolds and the man later wakes in hospital, hurt, but somehow alive. Except he has no idea who he is. With merciless figures from his past pursuing him, The Man’s search for answers propels him through the vast and unforgiving outback.
Dornan can most recently be seen in Belfast as well as Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. The actor is best known for his role as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and Fifty Shades Freed. The actor’s other work includes Wild Mountain Thyme, Synchronic, Death and Nightingales, A Private War, Robin Hood, Untogether, The Fall, The 9th Life of Louis Drax, Racing Hearts, The Siege of Jadotville, Anthropoid, Once Upon a Time, and Endings, Beginnings.
Macdonald is best known for her roles in Patti Cake$, Dumplin’, and Bird Box. Her additional credits include Falling for Figaro, Every Secret Thing, Paradise Hills, French Exit, Extracurricular Activities, The East, Skin, I Am Woman, and Unbelievable.
I had the chance to speak with the actors about their characters’ individual stories, why The Tourist will stand out compared to other shows on television right now, creating the dynamic between The Man and Helen, how they felt after filming their final scene, and more!
