The Cast of ‘The Staircase’ Preview Their New HBO Max Original Limited Series

The Staircase debuts on Thursday, May 5 with three episodes, followed by one new episode each week on HBO Max. The new limited series is based on a true story and before the premiere, I had the chance to speak with stars Sophie Turner, Odessa Young, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Dane DeHaan!

Based on a true story, THE STAIRCASE explores the life of Michael Peterson (Firth), his sprawling North Carolina family, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson (Collette).

Turner starred as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, which went on for 8 seasons. The actress also portrayed Jean Grey / Phoenix in X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Additional credits include Josie, Another Me, Time Freak, Heavy, Broken Soldier, Barely Lethal, and Survive.

Young is known for Mothering Sunday, Shirley, Assassination Nation, The Daughter, The Man in the Woods, The Professor, A Million Little Pieces, Looking for Grace, and The Stand.

Schwarzenegger can be recognized for his roles in Moxie, Midnight Sun, Daniel Isn’t Real, Warning, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Dear Eleanor, and Echo Boomers.

DeHaan’s television credits feature Lisey’s Story, ZeroZeroZero, True Blood, and In Treatment. The actor’s film work includes The Kid, Tulip Fever, A Cure for Wellness, Knight of Cups, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Life After Beth, Kill Your Darlings, The Place Beyond the Pines, Lawless, Jack & Diane, Chronicle, Two Lovers and a Bear, Life, and Metallica Through the Never.
