From the great animation director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and Coraline, Henry Selick has teamed up with Jordan Peele to create his next stop motion animation, Wendell & Wild.
Based on Selick and Clay McLeod Chapman’s unpublished book, Wendell & Wild tells the story of two scheming demon brothers, Wendell and Wild (Keegan-Michael from Key and Peele), enlist the aid of 13-year-old Kat Elliot (Lyric Ross) to summon them to the Land of the Living.
“Kat Elliot has had a rough life,” Selick told a group of reporters during Geeked Week special event last week. “[She] lost her parents, ended up in the juvie justice system, which is a real deal for very young kids. [She] gets a chance at this fancy girl school back in her hometown. She never would have wanted to go to this school. She says that’s where the “prized poodles go.” And, so she’s back there. She has a visitation in her dreams from Wendell and Wild. It turns out she’s their [way back to the world].”
In the clip shown during Netflix Geeked Week, Kat is seeking something that Wendell and Wild told her to get at the school. We don’t want to reveal too much because we really don’t know what to make of this clip.
