You’re probably thinking what I’m thinking — wait… Sandra Oh and Awkwafina are doing a sister comedy movie?! It’s happening!
Directed by Jessica Yu and a script by Jen D’Angelo, the untitled original sister comedy began production last week in Los Angeles. Filming will continue in Los Angeles and New Orleans and will wrap production at the end of July, which will give it time to premiere in 2023 on Hulu.

According to the press release, the comedy follows “a brilliant but tightly wound, game show-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina) and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Oh), who must work together to help cover their mother’s gambling debts. When Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped, they set out on a wild, cross-country trek to get the cash the only way they know how: by turning Anne into a bona-fide game show champion.”
The film also stars Jason Schwartzman, Holland Taylor, Tony Hale, and Will Ferrell, who also serve as producers alongside Jessica Elbaum, Maggie Haskins, Itay Reiss, D’Angelo, Awkwafina, and Oh with Alex Brown and Erika Hampson as executive producers.
The untitled sister comedy is set to release sometime in 2023.
