Disney•Pixar’s Cars on the Road follows Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) as they embark on an epic road trip and head east to attend a wedding for Mater’s sister.

Each episode sees the characters encountering all sorts of fun-filled adventures that are packed with dinosaurs, monster trucks, clowns, movie making magic, and more. And they may even run into a few friends from the previous films as well.
The Nerds of Color had a chance to sit down and talk to Larry the Cable Guy and directors Steve Purcell (Director Eps. 1, 2 & 8), Brian Fee (Director Eps. 3, 4 & 7), and Bobby Podesta (Director Eps. 5, 6 & 9) about the upcoming series. During our interviews, Larry the Cable Guy shared his thoughts on what makes Cars so endearing and road trip essentials. While Purcell, Fee, and Podesta each spoke about directing their respective episodes and some of the new animation techniques that were implemented to help expand the Cars universe in new ways.
In celebration of Disney+ Day, Disney and Pixar’s original series Cars on the Road will debut exclusively on the streaming service September 8.
