‘Andor’ Cast Reflects on Finding Human Stories in a Star Wars Universe

Andor provides us with a brand new perspective of the Star Wars universe. It’s one that doesn’t concern itself so much with the battle between Jedi and Sith, but more so the political angst as well as life under authoritarian oppression.

By telling these grounded and human stories, we can see a section of Star Wars that is a reflection of the world that we live in today but also still takes place in a galaxy far, far away. Set five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor follows Cassian (Diego Luna) a thief turned reluctant spy joins a revolution started by the newly formed Rebel Alliance.

The Nerds of Color had the chance to talk to Adria Arjona (Bix Caleen), Fiona Shaw (Maarva), Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), and Kyle Soller (Syril Karn) about the upcoming series, what drew them to Tony Gilroy’s scripts, how fans can see themselves in the characters on screen, and traveling to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

The first three episodes of Andor are scheduled to appear exclusively on Disney+ on September 21, 2022,
