Colin Farrell Returns as ‘The Penguin’ in the Next Chapter of ‘The Batman’ Saga

Even though we won’t be getting The Batman sequel until 2026, the first teaser trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Penguin, starring Academy Award nominee Colin Farrell, should hold us over until then or at least until the series premieres on Max this fall.

The vibe of the trailer, and presumably the series, is more in line with HBO’s prestige drama pedigree — think Succession, The Wire, or The Sopranos — than a spinoff of a billion dollar superhero franchise. Which is what makes this series so exciting!

Joining Farrell on The Penguin are Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, and Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone.

The Penguin is set to debut on the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max this fall while we all patiently wait for The Batman Part II.
