Since Star Tours launched in Tomorrowland at the Disneyland Resort in 1987, it was the premiere attraction for Star Wars fans. Nearly four decades later, it remains a fan-favorite attraction, adding newer destinations as more upgrades are added to improve the guest experience. Now that the Disneyland Resort is celebrating the Season of the Force, Star Tours has added the planet Seatos as a new destination, and guests receive one of three transmissions from Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), or Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal).
Laura Sirikul and I were invited to join journalists, influencers, and content creators on the opening day of Season of the Force at the Disneyland Resort. There, we got to experience the latest Star Tours destination and watch one of the newest incoming transmissions.
Though Star Tours has traveled to many galaxies and planets seen throughout the Skywalker Saga, Seatos is the only planet to be added to the list of destinations. Beforehand, guests can experience the same cold opening where C-3PO inadvertently becomes the pilot of the Starspeeder. Unable to get control of the ship, Stormtroopers converge because they believe a rebel spy is on board. Matters worsen when Darth Vader arrives and uses the Force to keep the ship from escaping. Luckily, R2-D2 uses the ship’s blasters on Vader, and we were able to escape the hanger. While tie fighters give chase, we are able to jump into lightspeed and head to Hoth. The sequence of the destination hasn’t changed at all, so there’s no sense in detailing this part of the story.

When we jump into lightspeed again, the ship receives an incoming transmission from a hooded figure walking towards the camera. This mysterious man reveals himself to be Cassian Andor, another rebel spy who operates in the shadows. He tells guests that he has an urgent message from the rebellion and that he needs our help to fight the Empire. Andor then sends the secret coordinates to us and ends the transmission with an inspirational message saying that together we can win this war against the Empire. He counting on all of us.
The ship jumps into lightspeed once more and stop in the clouds of Seatos. It’s stormy, with lightning illuminating the clouds to reveal tendrils. But once the ship is able to get above, we see that those tendrils belong to a pod of purgil. All seems peaceful at first — almost as if guests were on a whale watching trip. But they aren’t here for that. That’s when Ahsoka’s T-6 shuttle appears. It’s being pursued by a pair of fighter ships who are firing on the shuttle. “It’s two against one, I could really use your help,” Ahsoka says. R2 gives an assist, and the ship glides on the purgil’s back, while also weaving in and out of the tendrils and flying in between fins. At one point we are nearly eaten by a purgil. Luckily, that doesn’t happen. The maneuver does create an opening where we use our blaster to hit one of the fighter ships. Damaged, the ship is then hit by one of the purgil’s tendrils. Ahsoka thanks us for the help, and then we part ways and make our return back home.
As much fun as it was to head to Seatos and receive one of three transmissions, it doesn’t have the same kind of exciting flair as the other planets. Part of what makes this destination fun is that it is new and something the guests haven’t experienced before. However, they are merely a small player in a small chase. It’s not nearly as exciting as arriving on Coruscant or Naboo where you feel like you’re in actual danger. Still, the visuals hold up well, and it is very pretty to look at.
Seatos and the three new transmissions are debuting during Season of the Force. But if you don’t get a chance to celebrate the event, don’t worry, because the planet and the transmissions will be year-round. With five different opening destinations, ten different transmissions, and six final destinations, the story combinations seem endless. So it is up to you if you want to experience all of them.

Season of the Force runs from April 5 to June 2, 2024.
