‘We Are Lady Parts’ Season 2 Trailer Shows the Band in Their Villain Era

Nida Manzoor’s We Are Lady Parts debuts its Season 2 trailer, with the season releasing May 30.

A few weeks ago, we reported that Nida Manzoor’s We Are Lady Parts would be returning May 30 on Peacock, ceasing the long drought (by American standards, at least) of our favorite British Muslim women punk rock band. At last the return of Amina (Anjana Vasan), Saira (Sarah Kameela Impey), Ayesha (Juliette Motamed), Bisma (Faith Omole), Momtaz (Lucie Shorthouse) to our screens! Now, we have a trailer giving us some insight into what this sophomore season will bring for the self-titled Lady Parts.

After breaching into popular success in season 1, it seems from the trailer that Lady Parts will have to seriously reckon with that success will cost. Saira in particular expresses her disdain about the role capitalism plays in their lives (preach) while band manager Momtaz urges practicality. But challenges face Lady Parts at all corners, including a new Muslim punk band named “Second Wife,” featuring new cast members Bradley Banton as Ali, Kimani Arthur as Taifa, and Eman Alali as Farah.

We also get glimpses of Amina’s best friend Noor (Aiysha Hart), who has thankfully grown into supporting the band from being dismissive last season, as well Ayesha’s brother Ahsan (Zaqi Ismail) cheering them on. We know at least Shobu Kapoor will return as Amina’s mom Seema from her parental unit, joined as well by guest stars Malala Yousafzai and Meera Syal.

Here’s the description for Season 2 provided to us by Peacock:

Season 2 of WE ARE LADY PARTS sees the band return with a renewed artistic mission after the high of their first UK tour, only to find a rival band threatens their delicate status quo. As the reality of chasing success sets in, Lady Parts embarks on recording their first album, juggling personal ambitions and deciding whether ‘making it big’ is really what they want.

In the meantime, watch the full trailer, and stay tuned for our coverage of the show as all six episodes of Season 2 drop on Peacock at the end of this month. We just need to wait a little bit longer!

You can watch We Are Lady Parts Season 2 on Peacock starting May 30.
