‘Harold and The Purple Crayon’ Trailer Brings Art to Life

We all grew up reading Crockett Johnson’s 1955 children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon. There have been a series of adaptations and stories for this beloved classic about a boy using his magical purple crayon to create his world — simply by drawing it. This book sparked the imaginations of so many and inspired so many other stories to come from it.

Now, Harold and the Purple Crayon comes to life on the big screen in a live-action adaptation starring Zachary Levi as Harold. Now, all grown up in his world, Harold decides to draw himself into the real world and finds that he has so much to learn. But, in the meanwhile, his trusty, magical purple crayon falls into the wrong hands, and Harold and his new friends must find a way to save both his world and the real world.

Directed by Carlos Saldanha and produced by John Davis, the live-action hybrid family adventure/comedy also stars Lil Rel Howery, Benjamin Bottani, Jemaine Clement, Tanya Reynolds, with Alfred Molina and Zooey Deschanel.
