All episodes of Hysteria! are now streaming on Peacock and I spoke with stars Anna Camp, Nikki Hahn, Chiara Aurelia, Emjay Anthony, and Kezii Curtis. USA Network will also air episodes of the series on Fridays.

When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported “supernatural activity” triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.
“She’s doing everything from the goodness of her heart. She is a very godly woman. There’s a lot of levels to her. At first, she’s not very popular in the town. She has no one coming to her meetings. She’s aware of it, she’s a little self-deprecating. She knows she’s not really good socially,” Camp explains regarding her role. “There’s a bit of humor to her but at the end of the day, there’s something really brewing underneath all of this external armor that she has on, and she’s really clinging to religion as a tool for survival and you get to see why. So, so many things stuck out for me and I was like, ‘I cannot wait to uncover and unpack what’s happening below the surface of Tracy Whitehead.’”

“With Faith, I mean, obviously, what drew me in [when] reading the pilot was the opening scene. I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be so much to film, so much fun,’” Hahn expressed. “I think what really drew me is her overall message of, throughout the season, you see her find her own voice and kind of taking her first steps into living a normal teenage life.”
Anthony commented, “For me, I would say the music, definitely. Dylan and I love the same music, so that was pretty cool.”

“I think with Jordy, there was an understanding of displaying yourself one way but feeling kind of like there’s more going on underneath the surface, and I think that it was a really fun character to explore, especially since these goth characters that would seem to be on the sidelines oftentimes on-screen don’t get the same amount of time to dive into the different layers and the different stuff that’s going on behind the surface,” Aurelia shared. “So, I think that Jordy was a really fun one, and she’s also deadpan and kind of funny. It was enjoyable to work on, for sure.”
Curtis added, “For me, it was just taking a character that’s purebred innocent, just like, they don’t know anything else. So, to see them have to grow and change from things that are out of their control was something I immediately was like, ‘I can do that, guys. Leave it to me.’”

We discussed their characters, what kind of research they did to prepare, how the project challenged them, and more.
