We will finally know Miles Morales’ fate as Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, the long-awaited trilogy capper, finally gets a release date. The film hits theaters on June 4, 2027. The news of the release was announced at CinemaCon, the movie theater industry trade show held annually in Las Vegas, NV.

Though much wasn’t revealed in terms of plot, producers and screenwriters Phil Lord and Chris Miller, along with directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson took to the stage to talk about the lengthy production and the desire to get things right and deliver a satisfying ending to Mile Morales’ story.
Of course, considering how Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended on a cliffhanger, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will have to address Miles meeting his Earth-42 counterpart and how he assumed the Prowler identity while also figuring out a way to return home to save his father from The Spot and evading Spider-Man 2099’s Miguel O’Hara.

Just like the first two Spider-Verse films, Beyond will push the boundaries of animation and storytelling. Considering how Across the Spider-Verse was an amalgamation of animation styles and techniques on a bigger scale than its predecessor, it will be interesting to see how Beyond goes beyond that.
Both Spider-Verse films were critical darlings and box office hits, with the first entry, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The first film also helped popularize the cinematic multiverse, a narrative concept that eventually made its way into other superhero film universes. Fans were treated to a psychedelic version of that in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, a sequel which was nominated for Best Animated Feature.

Beyond The Spider-Verse was originally slated for a March 29, 2024, release but was pushed back because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes. However, given the hype surrounding the visual storytelling, delaying the release may be to the film’s benefit.
Shameik Moore as the voice of Miles, alongside Hailee Steinfeld who voices Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Woman, Jason Schwartzman as the Spot, and Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-Man India.
