Amazon MGM Studios just confirmed production is underway on Spaceballs 2, the decades-in-the-making follow-up to Mel Brooks’ 1987 space opera classic. The film will reunite Brooks with original stars Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, and an unretired Rick Moranis. Though if history is any indication, they will never share any significant screen time together.
To mark the occasion, Amazon MGM Studios just released a black and white photo of the entire cast at the movie’s first table read. Ludicrously, this is the first time in cinematic history that such a photo has ever been released.
Directed by Josh Greenbaum from a script by Josh Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez, Spaceballs 2 is slated for release in time for the original’s 40th anniversary in 2027.
