Back in 2023, director Angel Manuel Soto brought us one of the best films in the DCEU with Blue Beetle. As a filmmaker he approaches his films with a kinetic energy and charm that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, while also laughing at the comedic chemistry of his lead actors. He also is a POC filmmaker who does tremendous things by promoting POC talent. And this is all the more apparent with his latest action film, The Wrecking Crew, headlined by stars Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista!

Momoa and Bautista are obviously two of the most charismatic (and jacked) action A-listers in the industry today. So of course, having them anchor an action comedy seems like an absolute no brainer. However Soto and team could have stopped the representation right there. Yet instead, they chose to fill out the rest of the film’s roster with some really amazing and prominent POC faces in the industry. We were so lucky to speak with Soto and many of the cast, including brilliant supporting cast members Jacob Batalon, Morena Baccarin, Temuera Morrison, Frankie Adams, and Roimata Fox.

Here’s what they all had to say about working with two of the biggest names (in terms of fame and physical stature) in action and what it was like surviving some of the insane stunts and fights in the film:
