‘The Angry Birds 3’ Trailer Teases the Chaos of Fatherhood

Angry Birds was one of those games that made perfect sense for the mobile era, combining cartoonish humor, a colorful war between birds and green pigs, and just enough applied physics to make every slingshot bird crashing into those enemy green pigs feel weirdly satisfying. While the game itself has been taken down from most app stores, its legacy still lives on in the movies. And Paramount Studios has just unveiled the first trailer for The Angry Birds 3, which sees the titular birds take on a new stage of their lives where the famously short-tempered bird is not just saving the world. He is also trying to survive fatherhood.

Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride reprise their roles as Red, Chuck, Silver, and Bomb, respectively, with Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox also returning as Hal and Bubbles. The new film also introduces Red and Silver’s children, including Walker Scobell as Glider, Emma Myers as June, and Psalm West as Olly. James Austin Johnson joins as Fuzzy, the family’s pet spider. The expanding voice cast also includes Keke Palmer, Lily James, Tim Robinson, Sam Richardson, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser, Marcello Hernández, Anna Cathcart, MrBeast, and Salish Matter in new roles.

The plot synopsis may be brief, but it tells us exactly what kind of chaos the third installment is aiming for: “This holiday season, one angry bird will face his greatest challenge yet, surviving fatherhood… while saving the world!”

The trailer fits that description, with Red trying to balance his everyday anger issues with the new responsibilities of being a dad. It opens with Red in his usual angry self, punching mimes, slapping a doctor trying to test his reflexes, and tossing a popcorn bucket over the bird sitting next to him. Then the trailer shifts into full parent mode, showing Red’s youngest being fitted into a baby carrier.

Another clip sees Red dropping off his son, who is clearly at that age where being seen with his dad feels like a punishment. So when Red asks him to name one person cooler than him, his son starts rattling off celebrity names with avian puns, including LeSwan James and Hendaya. But the one that feels almost too perfect is Ryan Gosling.

Now that Red is a full-time parent, he is trying to navigate a world where his kids do not necessarily want to be around him, each for their own reasons. Then there is the new hatchling, who cannot seem to stay out of danger, especially when drawers full of sharp objects are involved.

And then there are Chuck and Bomb, who seem completely unprepared for the simple act of taking care of a baby.

The Angry Birds 3 opens in theaters on December 23, 2026.
