Just when you thought BTS and McDonald’s was done with their merchandise collaboration, they decided to drop a whole new collection for fans to fight over on WeVerse!
The two new collections, which one is appropriately called the “Saucy Collection” features characters hand-drawn by BTS themselves. It’s not like their BT21 characters. No. These characters are based on McDonald’s menu and are so adorable. I want them all.
With the release of BTS’ new hit song Butter, it makes sense for McDonald’s to jump at the chance of a collaboration since we know McDonald’s isn’t the healthiest option for our cholesterol. But, to have one of the biggest global phenomenons team up with a global food brand is genius marketing for McDonald’s.
The anticipated BTS and McDonald’s collaboration is now at your local McDonald’s. You can order the BTS Meal, which consists of a 10-piece chicken nugget meal with French fries and a drink, along with two special sauces — Cajun and Sweet Chili. Get your scrapbooks ready for the BTS labels that are placed on the meal.
When we all saw Tupac Shakur in Juice in the ‘90s, not only did we pray to never run into someone like Bishop in our own lives, but we learned the range Pac had outside of the studio. ‘90s and early 2000s Black cinema was marked by a particular era of gangster-laden, hip-hop fueled narratives that sometimes hit the mark, with films like Do the Right Thing, Boyz N the Hood, and New Jack City lending various insights into the cinematic representation of Black Consciousness as it was in the ‘90s and later.

With the ever-growing list of whitewashed and white savior films and television series — including the recent release of the live-action anime film Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson as Major Motoko Kusanagi — it’s no wonder many people are upset. However, a comedy troupe from UCB Los Angeles called Asian AF has decided a smart way to shed light on the whitewashing problem.
On Monday morning we released our summer collection that included our new Wonder Woman Denim Jacket. Out of everything new we are creating this year, this is the one piece I am most excited for. Wonder Woman is FINALLY getting her own live action film after almost 40 years since Linda Carter’s iconic TV version. Fortunately, in the past few years, we have seen more social advocating for equal representation of gender, orientation, and race in our favorite comics, TV, and films. Much has changed. Much has not.
I received a few emails and messages from people who wanted to support the AfroGeeks Unite! summer camp, but didn’t want to wear a shirt with a raygun on it. I completely understand. We’re living in interesting times and the raygun (with the RBG colors) design could be interpreted in a variety of ways… ways some folks may not be comfortable with.
This has been a dispiriting couple of weeks. We are facing a new political reality and now, I feel, there is an increased social, political, and creative urgency — something I’ve never felt before. To address this, me and a few local Bay Area creators have decided to launch AfroGeeks Unite! It is a small initiative that aims to get more POC youth (particularly black youth) involved in the speculative fiction (used as a catchall for SF, comics, horror, etc.) community.
We are in the midst of another New York Comic-Con, and as is becoming customary with these major Comic-Cons, we’ve teamed up with Black Girl Nerds to bring BGNOC to the east coast. And now we can announce online merch outlet TeePublic will be sponsoring the meet up! For a limited time, TeePublic is having a site-wide sale that ends during NYCC weekend. But fret not! Fans of the NOC will get a one-week extension on the sale. Click through to find out how.
I’m getting ready for a few comic conventions I’ll be attending this year, and originally I wasn’t planning on making any new tees. But… this one just kinda came naturally to me. So I had to make it.
I’ll be bringing this design with me to the New York Comic-Con later this year in October. And there, I’m only going to be bringing about 36 of these in total with me. And those 36 will be spread out from sizes Small, Medium, Large, XL, and XXL. Meaning just like 6-10 of each size. But for this design only, I’m going to try something different. I’m going to open this design up for pre-order.
The Kitsune Hoodie is a zip-up hoodie featuring an all-over printed fox spirit design.
Like many web cartoonists, I occasionally design shirts to supplement my income. But I’ve never been very good at coming up with the clever designs or mashups that you might see on popular t-shirt sites. My shirt designs tend to feature strange creatures.
Want to see how a vendor booth goes from being a bunch of cardboard boxes to an elaborate thing of t-shirt selling beauty?
Today is the first day of New York Comic-Con, and Epic Proportions is once again taking up some prime real estate in the Jacob Javits Center. If you are going to be at the show, come by and say hi at Booth #2010. We even have DC Comics superstar Bernard Chang at the booth for the whole show!

If you haven’t heard, there’s a little independent movie that just opened in theaters this weekend called Thor: The Dark World. Last month, friend of the blog Jerry Ma had these exclusive t-shirts — featuring artwork by legendary Thor artist Walter Simonson — for sale at the Epic Proportions/SIUniverse booth at New York Comic-Con. Now that the con is over, Jerry’s offering limited quantities of these shirts for sale at epicprops.com.
