Oh, nostalgia. In times of darkness and division, looking back at the common ground that represents times when things were simpler and less complicated fills us with warmth and certain amounts of glee. And thus, it’s something of a comfort that we get to celebrate the 45th anniversary of a classic property like Strawberry Shortcake with BoxLunch!
For Gen X’ers, The World of Strawberry Shortcake was a television special that introduced the world to a cute wholesome character called Strawberry Shortcake from a place called Strawberryland. Strawberry Shortcake was previously a character seen in greeting cards, that spun off into toys from Kenner in 1979, then came to life in the aforementioned special in 1980. And since then, the character has persisted in the cultural zeitgeist with people of all ages today.
And now, BoxLunch is introducing a new line of merchandise to celebrate Strawberry’s 45th anniversary from dresses to pins to handbags! We were recently invited to partake in the celebration with a launch event at BoxLunch in Sherman Oaks to preview the merchandise and party with the adorable character herself.
