The VO Actors of Global Majority You Need to Know: Emi Lo

Over the past three years, I’ve encountered some truly remarkable voiceover actors from the PGM (People Of Global Majority) community, so remarkable that I thought it would be a worthwhile endeavor to dedicate an article about themselves, their accomplishments, and where you can find them and do so every week. For this week, my spotlight is on Emi Lo! (Banner design by the incredible VO artist/graphic designer Belsheber Rusape Jr.)

Emi Lo with her Siberian cat Noctis

Emi Lo is a Taiwanese American voice actress most well known for playing Rena in Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, Rinku in D4DJ: First Mix, Hei in The Legend of Hei, Mirai in Dr. STONE, and most recently, Kate in Shadows House.

Mirari Shishio from Dr. Stone

Though she started her life as a classical pianist, acting was her first love. In addition, she is very passionate about animation and video games, as they have been an integral part of her life since she was young.

Ryūgū Rena from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

When Emi is not acting, she can be found playing piano, playing video games, cosplaying, modeling, singing, eating, or exploring natural and man-made ruins. She also has an absolutely precious but spoiled Siberian cat.

Aimoto Rinku from D4DJ: First Mix

You can follow Emi on her Twitter account at @KitsuneSqueak. Throughout the week, I will be highlighting Emi’s accomplishments and tidbits of her working voiceover career so be sure to follow The Nerds Of Color on their own Twitter account as I do so.

Luo Xiaohei from The Legend of Luo Xiaohei

Emi represents the launch of the vast world of voiceover actors of global majority we will be covering on a weekly basis so be sure to tune in next Monday for the next feature!
