Superhero Diaries had its soft launch in early 2021, with advance episodes produced during the height of the pandemic. It quickly became clear that talent would need to record alone and only work together via green screen and editing and yet they were still able to put together webseries gold. With its official debut, the fantastic satire series is now able to bring actors together on-set, to parody the multiverse galaxies, in ways that could never actually happen but do.
Series creator Scott Zakarin attributes much of the series’ success to the tireless work of the actors he recruited (who also don their heroic and villainous identities flawlessly).
The Nerds of Color had an absolute blast catching up with Zakarin and stars of the series, Horecee St. Cyr (Catwoman) and Jaquis Neal (Miles Morales/Spider-Man).
Superhero Diaries is a much needed comedy reprieve considering the ongoing pitfalls of the pandemic, and Zakarin, St. Cyr, and Neal all embody the kind of joy the superhero genre affords its fans and audience.
