NOC Interview: Joey King on All Things ‘The Kissing Booth 3’

Joey King stars as Elle Evans in The Kissing Booth 3, which is the third and final film in The Kissing Booth franchise. The actress also serves as an executive producer for the new Netflix movie. The first film of the trilogy premiered back in 2018 and was followed by The Kissing Booth 2 in 2020. The era comes to an end on August 11.

It’s the summer before Elle heads to college, and she’s facing the hardest decision of her life: whether to move across the country with her dreamy boyfriend Noah or fulfill her lifelong promise to go to college with her BFF Lee. Whose heart will Elle break?

King earned nominations across the board for her outstanding performance in Hulu’s The Act, including nominations for a 2019 Critics’ Choice Award and 2020 Golden Globe Award for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television,” as well as for a 2020 SAG Award for “Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series.” She also made history as the youngest nominee in this category in almost two decades with her 2019 Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.”

Additional film credits include Oz The Great And Powerful, The Dark Knight Rises, The Conjuring, Wish I Was Here, Ramona And Beezus, The Lie, Summer ’03, Slenderman, Independence Day 2: Resurgence, Stonewall, White House Down, Battle Los Angeles, and Crazy, Stupid, Love. On the small screen, King starred in Fargo and Outlaw Prophet. Other television work includes The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, Entourage, Medium, CSI, Ghost Whisperer, and New Girl. The actress has lent her voice to many animated films and series as well, such as Horton Hears a Who, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Robot Chicken, and The Boxcar Children.

Next, she will star in Sony Pictures’ action-thriller Bullet Train. Recently, she wrapped production for The In Between, an original story pitch by King for Paramount Players. The actress is also continuing to expand her role as a producer on many upcoming projects that she will also star in, including The Princess. King will produce a TV series for Hulu after establishing a first-look deal with the streaming service and has also expanded her relationship with Netflix, forming a first-look deal to produce and develop films for the streaming service via her All The King’s Horses production company. Under this deal, she will executive produce and star in Netflix’s film adaptation of Uglies as well as headline and produce A Spark of Light. This makes her one of the youngest ever to strike a deal across any streaming network.
