For those out there, like myself, who can’t get enough of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, any semblance or scrap of a sequel is, frankly, something to foam at the mouth for. And though Peacemaker proved to be the sequel’s true villain, there’s something about John Cena’s oblivious earnestness and hilarious charisma that does make me curious to see where the upcoming Peacemaker series is going to go. We know after the events of the film, that ARGUS desk-jockeys John Economos (Steve Agee) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) were sent to take back a very-much-alive Christopher Smith. But where things go from there remains a real mystery.

Today, however, a few days before DC FanDome, HBO and DC have released the first clip from Gunn’s upcoming eagerly anticipated series. And, as expected, it’s quite hilarious! Take a look for yourself:

The clip exhibits the same rag-tag energy we’d expect from Gunn’s films, and getting to watch Holland and Agee take shots at Cena is really very funny. The one thing still missing so far, that I’m very curious to see how Gunn will handle, is how you could possibly redeem a character that was just downright despicable. That being said, Gunn does love his flawed heroes and wounded characters. So if there’s anyone that can make a believer out of me, I trust it to be James Gunn.
