Masahiro Sakurai, the designer, creator, and ruler of all things Super Smash Bros., has at last revealed the final character to join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. After months of speculation, hoards of Reddit posts, and countless Twitter threads, Smash players finally got to say hello to Sora in all his polygonal glory. Sakurai made the announcement during today’s special Smash Bros. presentation called ‘Mr. Sakurai Presents.’ The one-man hype train has ushered in some of the most memorable moments and reveals in the history of Smash, and it’s no surprise he again brought the internet to its knees with today’s presentation.

For starters, the presentation opened with new content for the game’s Mii Fighters, including a dope Doom Slayer costume coming out later this month.

Sakurai went into detail about Sora’s move set, music, stage, and more during the 40-minute presentation. The internet responded in kind, with gamers taking to social media to blast their hype into the ether.
Sora joins the roster as the game’s 12th and final DLC character, behind Tekken‘s Kazuya Mishima, ARMS‘ Min Min, Persona 5‘s Joker, Banjo-Kazooie‘s titular characters, and several others. Speculations had been mounting for months leading up to the reveal, with anyone from Halo‘s Master Chief, to Fortnite‘s character joining the battle.
Sora is set to arrive this month, alongside a new stage and music track, as Sakurai and the Nintendo company have been piling on the Smash hype since its release three years ago. This final character caps off the game’s spectacular journey and post-launch content reveals and will surely keep the floodgates open until the next Smash Bros. title gets revealed or announced.
