During DC’s FanDome 2021 event, Shazam actor’s Asher Angel and Zachary Levi took viewers on a behind-the-scenes look of Shazam: Fury of the Gods. The upcoming superhero sequel sees Angel and Levi teaming up once more to play the role of Billy Batson/Shazam. The hero joins forces with his Shazam family — powered up at the end of the first film — against a newer, tougher threat.

We got a glimpse of this threat during the bts look, and it comes in the form of Hespera and Kalypso; two goddesses portrayed by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu respectively who have come to conquer the world and take down Shazam and his superpowered family.

Levi didn’t reveal too much about the plot, but he and director David F. Sandberg revealed that the film will give us an even deeper look at the magical side of the DC universe. With Shazam being a character rooted in fantasy, that isn’t a big surprise. But the behind-the-scenes clip showed off a brief look at Hespera and Kalypso’s magical abilities, as well as a promise that we’ll see fantasy creatures like dragons, harpies, and more appear in Fury of the Gods.
