NOC Interview: Debby Ryan Talks Her New Film, ‘Night Teeth’

Debby Ryan stars as Blaire in Netflix’s new vampire thriller, Night Teeth. The actress did a majority of the stunts and fights herself, putting her real-life boxing skills to work in the fight sequences. The film, which is an 42 and Unique Features production, begins streaming on October 20.

To earn some extra cash, quirky college student Benny (Jorge Lendeborg, Jr.) moonlights as a chauffeur for one night. His task: drive two mysterious young women (Debby Ryan and Lucy Fry) around Los Angeles for a night of party hopping. Taken captive by his clients’ charm, he soon learns that his passengers have their own plans for him – and an insatiable thirst for blood. As his night spins out of control, Benny is thrust into the middle of a clandestine war that pits rival tribes of vampires against the protectors of the human world, led by his brother (Raúl Castillo), who will stop at nothing to send them back into the shadows. With sunrise fast approaching, Benny is forced to choose between fear and temptation if he wants to stay alive and save the City of Angels.

Ryan starred as Patricia ‘Patty’ Bladell in Netflix’s Insatiable, which was one of the most binged original series of 2018. From 2011 to 2015, Ryan starred as the title character in the Disney Channel original series, Jessie, which she both developed and co-produced. The popular comedy series ran for nearly 100 episodes. During her time on Jessie, Ryan expanded her role on the show as a director, making her the youngest female director of episodic television as well as the youngest female actively engaged in the multi-camera community at the Directors Guild of America.

The actress can recently be seen starring in Netflix’s drama Horse Girl and the comedy The Opening Act. Other notable film credits include Life of the Party, Cover Versions, Every Day, and Grace. She also portrayed Bailey Pickett in The Suite Life on Deck for three seasons. Upcoming, Ryan is set to star in Spin Me Round, a new indie comedy.
