NOC Exclusive: ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Season 2 Key Art Revealed

Season two of the anticipated FOX drama The Cleaning Lady has finally revealed new key art exclusively for The Nerds of Color.

Set against the very real crisis of undocumented immigrants seeking support to keep their families together, Fox’s hit show The Cleaning Lady centers Thony De La Rosa (Élodie Yung) as a resilient Cambodian doctor who moved to Las Vegas from the Philippines to secure life-saving medical treatments for her son. Since she is undocumented, alongside her sister-in-law Fiona (Martha Millan), Thony works as a cleaning lady but is accidentally forced to get involved with the mob scene — cleaning up their dirty work.

Developed by Miranda Kwok, the series marks the first FOX primetime drama series to be produced by and starring an Asian woman, particularly for Southeast Asian actors. The series has dealt with important topics such as documentation, immigration, immunodeficiency diseases, and — now, this season — parental rights.

Last season, we saw Thony help Arman (Adan Canto) take over Hayak’s (Navid Negahban) enterprise. Now that Thony’s son Luca has recovered from his surgery that saved his life, she decides to stay in Las Vegas to start an underground medical clinic to help undocumented patients, while remain working for Arman. Unfortunately, Luca’s father Marco (Ivan Shaw) had other plans and took Luca back to the Philippines.

When the series debuted last January, The Cleaning Lady made the Top 5 new broadcast drama of 2021-22 season. It marked the network’s highest-rated drama premiere in two years as well as Hulu’s most streamed FOX debut in the network’s history. The series is set to return for its second season on September 19 on FOX.
