Sofia Carson and Nicholas Galitzine star as Cassie and Luke in Purple Hearts. Carson, who serves as an executive producer, also co-wrote and performed the original soundtrack. The movie will be released July 29 on Netflix.
In spite of their many differences, Cassie (Sofia Carson), a struggling singer-songwriter, and Luke (Nicholas Galitzine), a troubled marine, agree to marry solely for military benefits. But when tragedy strikes, the line between real and pretend begins to blur.
Carson has starred in Feel the Beat, Songbird, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, and Disney’s global phenomenon, Descendants. The actress is also a multi-platinum, award-nominated singer and songwriter, garnering over 2 billion streams, over 8 billion total music consumption to date, and reaching #1 on the Billboard Top 200. She recently released her self-titled debut album, Sofia Carson.
Galitzine will next be seen as Prince Henry in Red, White & Royal Blue, which is based on Casey McQuiston’s bestselling novel of the same name. Last year, he starred in Kay Cannon’s Cinderella as Prince Robert. Additional credits include The Craft: Legacy, Share, Chambers, Handsome Devil, The Beat Beneath My Feet, The Changeover, The Watcher In The Woods, and High Strung.
We had a lovely discussion about why Cassie and Luke’s story is so special, their favorite on-screen romances, what tattoo they would get to represent Purple Hearts, and more!
