‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Poster and Featurette Celebrate Din and Grogu

Today marks the 30-day countdown to the season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian. Starring Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, the critically acclaimed, original, live-action series sees its titular protagonist reunited with his cute but very powerful Grogu — let’s face it, his real name is Baby Yoda — and going on new adventures across the galaxy. To mark such an occasion, Disney has released a brand-new poster along with a featurette centered on the show’s legacy.

What’s exciting about this new poster is that it represents the next stage of evolution for Din, who started out as a lone gunslinger but has since found his purpose in life in protecting Grogu. In it, we see him standing on a refurbished Naboo Starfighter, with his trusty blaster in one hand and the legendary Darksaber in the other. And Grogu is not far behind, as he is inside the droid pod.

Because the Darksaber is a powerful symbol for all of Mandalore, anyone who wields it is the rightful ruler of Mandalore. However, it’s a symbol that cannot just be handover to anyone as it must be won in battle. This only makes it that much harder for Din, who’s bounty hunter lifestyle takes him away from the responsibilities of being a ruler. And to further complicate things, he has admitted to breaking the Mandalorian creed by taking off his helmet in front of Grogu. So it will be interesting to see how he atones for his past transgressions.

As for the featurette, it sees showrunners Jon Faverau and Dave Filoni, along with executive producer Rick Famuyiwa talking about the show’s legacy and how it has impacted the Star Wars lore in unimaginable ways. Don’t expect too see any new footage or spoilery content as the featurette pulls from Star Wars Celebrations and previous fan conventions from around the world.

The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow, and Giancarlo Esposito. The directors of the eight-episode Season 3 include Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere on Disney+ on March 1, 2023.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for The Mandalorian season 3:

“Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.”
