Ramy Hassan’s stated journey has been finding moral clarity on his life and what it means to be a good Muslim. Only problem is, he’s a constantly selfish screw-up. When we left him at the end of last season, he was at his lowest and most morally depraved, having completely humiliated his new (and immediately former) wife Zainab (MaameYaa Boafo), and rightfully enraging her father Sheikh Ali Malek (Mahershala Ali). Where does he go from here, and how will this inform his apparent crisis of faith in Islam?

Ramy is a story about a messy Muslim Egyptian American protagonist — played by Ramy Youssef — whose complexities make him neither wholly good or bad, but altogether captivating on his journey to figure out life. But we also follow his family, including his mother Maysa (Hiam Abbass), father Farouk (Amr Waked), sister Dena (May Calamaway of recent Moon Knight fame), Uncle Naseem (Laith Nakli of recent Ms. Marvel fame), and their various friends, including Mo (Mohammed Amer), Steve (Stevie Way), and Ahmed (Dave Merheje).

This season promises a lot in store for Ramy and his family and friends, including taking our title character all the way to Palestine, with a scene of him at the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. Season 3 stars Ramy Youssef, Laith Nakli, Hiam Abbass, Amr Waked, May Calamawy, Dave Merheje, Mohammed Amer and Steve Way, with special guest appearances from Aida Osman and Palestinian American model Bella Hadid in her acting debut.
