Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have unleashed the beasts in the official trailer for this summer’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts! Check it out below!
Like its ’80s-set predecessor Bumblebee, Beasts is a period piece that reflects the aesthetic of the Transformers of its era. Thankfully, the classic G1 vibes are still here — except I don’t know WTF is up with this take on Wheeljack, though. This time, the action is set in the ’90s, and you don’t get more ’90s than Beast Wars!
We also get a little more story this time around, including the fact that Autobots and Maximals are teaming up to fight, not the Predacons, but Unicron himself! Now it makes sense why we saw Terrorcons in the Super Bowl teaser. Maybe we’ll get those Sharkticons in live action, after all? Plus we finally hear from the likes of Ron Perlman (as Primal), Pete Davidson (as Mirage), and Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh (as Airazor).
Here’s the official synopsis of the latest entry in the franchise:
Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformer — the Maximals — to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth. Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, the film arrives in theatres June 9, 2023.
In addition to the trailer, Paramount dropped the following character posters to give fans up close and personal looks at a few of the Autobots and Maximals to be rooting for.
