Prime Video Releases First Look at ‘Expats’

Prime Video released their first-look images for Expats, the six-part limited series based on the internationally best-selling novel The Expatriates by Janice Y.K. Lee. Directed by Lulu Wang, Expats stars Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo, Brian Tee, and Jack Huston.

Set in the vibrant and tumultuous tapestry of 2014 Hong Kong, Expats centers on three American women — Margaret (Kidman), Hilary (Blue), and Mercy (Yoo) — whose lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy. The series explores privilege, victimhood, and culpability. Tee plays Margaret’s husband Clarke, and Huston plays Hilary’s husband David in the series.

The series will have its world premiere screening of its feature-length penultimate episode at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8.

Wang also serves as creator, executive producer, and writer for Expats. Daniele Melia, Kidman, Per Saari, Theresa Park, Alice Bell, and Stan Wlodkowski also serve as executive producers. Vera Miao, Gursimran Sandhu, and Lee serve as writers on Expats alongside Bell and Wang.

Expats will premiere on Prime Video early 2024.
