Executive Producer Wendy Jacobson Talks All Things ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

Wendy Jacobson executive produces Deadpool & Wolverine, which will be released in theaters on July 26. The movie serves as Deadpool’s eagerly anticipated entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that’s not all — he’s bringing Wolverine along for the ride! It’s safe to say the MCU will never be the same.

Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date—”Deadpool & Wolverine.” Alistless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existenFal threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to—Fuck. Synopses are so fucking stupid.

The EP shared, “Well, I think the truth is that Ryan will be the first to tell you that the comedy in a Deadpool film does not work unless the emotion is there, right? And [in] Deadpool 1, Deadpool tells us himself, this is a love story, Deadpool 2, this is about family, right? So I think there’s no version of making this movie without some emotional poignance.”

I asked her about meeting Peggy/Dogpool for the first time, which MCU character she would pick as her unlikely partner, why the anticipation for these two characters as a duo has been earned, and more.
