It’s been a while since we had a bit of news about Captain America 4. But today it’s been officially announced that Marvel Studios has found a director to helm the upcoming sequel.
Last we got any official news The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner, Malcolm Spellman was actively developing the new Captain America film starring Anthony Mackie. Spellman is co-writing the screenplay with fellow TFATWS co-writer Dalan Musson.
However it’s just been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that the film has now found a director: Julius Onah. While Onah is an up-and-comer, having helmed three films so far. His biggest was 2018’s The Cloverfield Paradox. But while that wasn’t actually any good (it was a bad screenplay), he did rebound with a strong, critically acclaimed hit in 2019’s Luce, which garnered three Independent Spirit Award nominations including one for Onah for Best Director.
Though news of Onah and other prior news like Mackie, Spellman, and Musson returning have been confirmed, there is still loads more that we don’t know about the fourth Captain America film.
If only there were a gigantic convention or event coming up where Kevin Feige could potentially give a presentation to announce more about it…
