‘Children of Blood and Bone’ Official Trailer and Behind-the-Scenes Look

The official trailer for Children of Blood and Bone is here! In addition to dropping the trailer, Paramount has shared some exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at how this film came together.

Children of Blood and Bone will be one of the biggest Black-led high-fantasy films to grace our theaters next year. Based on the trilogy by author Tomi Adeyemi, the A-List cast includes Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba, and Viola Davis. The film follows the story of Zélie (Thuso Mbedu), a girl living in the fictional kingdom of Orïsha who goes on a journey to unlock her people’s magic and uncover dark truths about the rulers overseeing the kingdom.

In the trailer, we see Lashana Lynch (“Jumoke,” Zélie’s mother) reassuring Zélie and telling her about their people’s history. We also see Viola Davis (“Mama Agba”) as Zélie’s teacher and mentor, narrating throughout. What follows is a visual feast of stunning, colorful landscapes that represent Orïsha, along with intense fight sequences and high-quality SFX depicting the magic system of Divîners (descendants of those with magic who cannot access it) and Maji (Divîners who can access and use their magic). The trailer seems to depict that the film will adhere to the main plot points of the first book in the trilogy. Influenced by Yoruba mythology, the full saga spans three books in the series written by Adeyemi.
